148 pp. 13 colour plates. 80 b/w in-text illustrations. A collection of historical poems and songs for children printed in blackletter and illustrated by English artist Arthur Rackham (1867-1939). Number five in the publisher's series "Kleinodien der Weltlituratur". Internally clean but for minor soiling marks on pp.99, 110/111, 134/135. Binding is split between pp. 142-143 but all signatures remain firmly attached. Minor denting on the head edge. Green cloth covered boards are lightly soiled and rubbed along the edges and corners with a slight fabric tear in the back panel joint at the head of the spine. Gilt titles and illustration on the front panel and backstrip have darkened slightly with some surface scratching to the illustration. No dustjacket. Undated by the publisher but a previous owner date of "22/12/14" in pencil on the pasted down front end paper. (.600 g. / 1.32 lbs.) Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Bookseller Inventory # 010541
