About this title

Synopsis:

Guitars That Jam is the definitive illustrated history of the guitars of rock-and-roll legend. Featuring images from live concerts, outdoor festivals, and private recording sessions, this spectacular volume captures the personal connection between artist and instrument. Along with the make and model of the guitar, each image is accompanied by a story from the musician detailing the guitar?s special characteristics, as well as its significance to them and rock history. Including photographs of Neil Young, Santana, Bob Weir, Trey Anastasio, Warren Haynes, and many more, Guitars That Jam is the ultimate photographic guide to the world of improvisational rock guitars.

About the Author:

Jay Blakesberg is a photographer and music industry insider; he has created images in dressing rooms, recording studios, and artists? homes. His work appears regularly in many magazines, including Rolling Stone and Guitar Player. Over the last 30 years, his rock-and-roll journey has seen him work with many legendary artists, including the Grateful Dead, Santana, Tom Waits, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Radiohead, and Phish, to name just a few. He has published several volumes of his work, including books on the Grateful Dead, Primus, and the Flaming Lips.

In addition to his three solo album, seven albums with the Allman Brothers and Gov?t Mule?s sixteen studio and live releases, Warren Haynes has accumulated stacks of accolades for his efforts. They range from Grammy wins and nominations to his ranking number 23 on the Rolling Stone?s list of “The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.? Haynes has played New York City?s historic Beacon Theater nearly 300 times, more than any other artist. Gov?t Mule has sold over two million song downloads from their own MuleTracks web site. And a wide range of stars, including Garth Brooks, Gregg Allman, Phil Lesh, Little Milton, John Mayall, George Jones, Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi, and Buckwheat Zydeco have recorded his songs in addition to the twenty-five songs he?s written for the Allman Brothers Band.
