About this Item
Illus paper wraps; perfect bound; 215pp; frontis; illustrations of title and decorative pages from some of the books offered in this catalog. This is Catalogue # 621 issued by the famous British rare book dealers Maggs Brothers. The contents of the catalogue include eight sections: The Romance of Antiquity; Fable Books; Mediaeval Legends and Stories; Romances of Chivalry; The Novel in English; The Novel in Spain and Portugal; The Novel in Italy and France; and The Novel in the Orient. Also included is an Index of Authors. Laid in loose is a 4-page memorial to Benjamin Dawson Maggs (1862-1935) with a tipped in printed photo of Maggs. The rare book catalogue shows some wear (chips and short tears) along the edges of the spine; the corners are bumped; several of the front pages are nicked at the lower edge and have a corner crease; and there is a light toning around the edges of the wraps. Six catalog numbers have been written in pencil on the front cover. Overall, though, this piece is in VG condition. [M]. Seller Inventory # 000266
