66 p. 23 cm. B&w frontispiece photo is Myerson's Style I with no caption. Burgundy cloth with gold print, including facsimile signature and publisher's monogram on front. Myerson Binding B. Wrapped in mylar (removed for photos). Bevelled edges. Top edge gilt. Light edge wear. Front hinge cracking. Bookplate for Charles W. Farnham on front pastedown. Minor foxing throughout. Tissue guard has slightly torn edges and a few spots. First edition of the "2nd annex" or expansion to Whitman's seminal collection "Leaves of Grass." Contains 31 short poems by the poet in the first section, followed by four essays. Short preface at front. This annex was added to the "deathbed" edition of "Leaves" the following year. Myerson A13.
