VERY RARE gilded & embossed hardcover book of sheet music for Voice & Pianoforte. "The Gondoliers; Or, The King of Barataria". By W. S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan. Pianoforte Arrangement by J. S. Wadsworth. This book is undated, but believed to be published circa 1880-1900 by Chappell & Co., Ltd. 4to, 28 cm x 21 cm x 1.5 cm, Blue textured cloth-covered boards, Gilt embossed lettering on spine, All edge dyed mottled red, sorry no dust-jacket. 185 pages. Weight: 680 Grams. CONTENTS ARE LIKE NEW!!! Spine is discoloured but mostly clean & sturdy, very slightly creased, bumped & scuffed either end, gilt bright, binding tight! Cover is discoloured in places, slightly marked, small indent on front, edge wear. Corners are bumped & scuffed. Title page is slightly marked, Arthur Sullivan 'signature' ink stamp. Some pages (very few) have corners folds/creases, and/or faint crease down middle. Page 87/88 has small tear on bottom edge. Pages 131 to 134 inc. have small fold at spine tail. Light age tanning & rare foxing throughout, more pronounced on end papers/pastedowns. EXTREMELY RARE SHEET MUSIC, BEAUTIFUL INSIDE!!!
