Book Description W Innys; C Davis; J Clarke; R Manby and H S Cox, London, 1745. Full calf. Book Condition: Good. second edition. xvi, 476, 338 (paginated as for two books, but here bound as one & [x] (Index) pages plus 38 folded plates; bound in full calf with raised bands and a red morocco spine label. The surface layer of the calf on the boards has been lost; the edges of the boards are very rubbed; the spine strip is rubbed and faded; the binding is surprisingly firm and sound; there is the bookplate of Wm Tomkyns - roughly contemporary with the book; there is a small inked inscription on the first free endpaper; the title page has a small inked name struck out; many pages have patches of light foxing - mostly confined to margins; one leaf has been folded on the corner and missed the trimming leaving a small excess of paper; 32 of the plates may fairly be described as very good; one is very torn and creased, one has a small tear in a margin, the fore edge of one is a little rough, two have been mis-folded and have a frayed and dusty fore edges. A very respectable copy which could benefit from some tidying of the covers. A very heavy book for which additional shipping will be asked. Size: 8" x 10" (200mm x 255mm).
