About this Item
(Nazi Children's Book) DER GIFTPILZ (THE POISONOUS MUSHROOM) by Ernst Hiemer with illustrations by "Fips" (Philipp Rupprecht). Nurnberg: Verlag Der Sturmer, (1938 51-70 tausend). 4to - 8-1/4" x 10-5/8". Grey cloth back strip and fore edges, color pictorial paper over boards with minor shelf wear and minor soiling to the front fore edge cloth for what is truly an excellent copy of the book. 64 pp. Seventeen color plates by "Fips" illustrate the stories in this overtly anti-semitic piece of Nazi propaganda whose goal was to "educate" Germany's children about the "dangers" of Jewish people. A Google search of this title yields an article entitled "What is the most horrible children's book ever written?". The answer to this question is the title offered here. Really no more needs to be said. The condition of the book is VERY GOOD +. RARE. Seller Inventory # 000401
