About this Item
This G+ quality format #1 book (as per Mattson & Davis bibliography: Hurst & Co.; 8"; light blue-gray cloth; black lettering on spine, red lettering on front; pictorial front & spine, in red, dark blue & white, different for each title; 2"-to-2-1/2" tall rectangle on spine in blue & red, of a boy engaged in an activity relevant to title, near top between title & author; plain end pages; frontis + 3, all on coated paper; page listing all illustrations ) was published by Hurst in 1912. It is square, moderately soiled, with no edge dings but with the top front corner bumped; the head and heel of the spine are also bumped. None of these bumps have resulted in fabric damage of any sort. Bottom edges and corners have very little wear. The rear hinge is very strong and tight; the front one is a bit loose at the top but the whole hinge is holding reasonably well. The illustrations on the spine and front panel are rather well preserved--even the fragile white paint is intact. Except for an inked 1913 inscription on the FFEP, the interior is completely free of writing, stray marks and stains of any sort. The frontis + 3 is intact. There is no jacket with this book.
