Celebration of the installation of 400 new sanitary privies in Pasquotank County, courtesy of the CWA (the Civil Works Administration, a New Deal program), with drawings of privies old & new, a back house poem, serious article about the program & its benefits in fighting disease, 12 fake 'humorous' ads & privy 'Code of Fair Competition', two outhouse anecdotes. Stapled softcover, red covers, black titling & drawing. Tanned, lightly stained, names in pen & pencil on the front cover, minor creasing, whole thing folded once down the middle parallel to the spine. Text clean; 32 pages, line drawings. Humorous and satirical consideration of the New Deal program, carried through by the Civil Works Administration, to provide rural Americans with privies. Apparently not in Thornton. OCLC locates eight copies (Broward Co. Public, East Carolina, N.C. State, North Carolina, UNC-G, Brown, Texas, Virginia). Still a good copy.
