(i). 42 pp. (ii). Illustrated throughout in b/w. First issue of two (all published) of this periodical of modern art, design and architecture. This premier issue contains a manifesto by editor Michel Aime, an extract from Le Corbusier's speech to the VIIIth CIAM Congress held in London, July, 1950, an article on architecture and colour by Fernand Leger, sculpture and eurythmics by Etienne Beothy, aircraft aerodynamics by Louis Girerd. Additional contributions by H. Chastanet, Jean Gruner, Michel Ragon, Rudolph Wittkower, Max Bill, Siegfried Giedeon and Gillo Dorfles. Bilingual French/English text. Three-colour illustration on front panel - "l'Atelier des Batisseurs" by Le Corbusier. Internally clean and unmarked with sound spiral binding. Texts printed on verso of front panel of covers and both sides of the back panel. Covers are age toned with slight knocks to the head and foot of the spine edge but otherwise sharp edged. Instances of surface pressure marks from the spiral binding on both panels due to improper storage but otherwise a very good copy. Size: Folio - over 12" - 15" tall. Bookseller Inventory #
