Colour image on front cover by prominent western Canadian artist of his day, Hay Strafford Stead (his name printed on lower right corner of the image), showing a woman mixing flour(?) in a large bowl with forest in background. This booklet provides a comprehensive history on the cultivation and use of wheat, and statistics on the growing of wheat in the world, Canada and western Canada in particular. Also includes contemporary statistics on Winnipeg as a commercial centre, and similar statistical information on rural western Canada and information about the publisher, the Winnipeg Free Press. Likley intended to lure additional settlers to the Canadian prairies. Centrefold (fold out map) has pulled away from somewhat rusted staples, otherwise in Fine condition - clean and bright.
