The author was a native of Skagafjörður in Northern Iceland, lived most of his adult life as a labourer in North Dakota and died there in 1923, not robust and very poor and was considered quite eccentric. SUBJECTS: Icelandic Literature/ Íslenskar bókmenntir; Poetry/Ljóð. Some poems refer to specific American settings and individuals, but some reflect Canadian people or situations. One poem deals with a woman in Selkirk, Manitoba (p. 17) All text in Icelandic except for final poem, which is in English. Referenced in Hjartar, p. 46. Not listed on AMICUS; not in Peel; not at Cornell. Hjartar and Gegnir both list this author's name with the Icelandic declension, as "Sveinn Símonarson", but on the book the Winnipeg publisher has anglicized it to "Svein Simonsson".
