More pronounced to free endpapers and pastedowns. Binding remains firm. Boards have mild edge-wear with slight rubbing to surfaces and bumping to corners. Lettering is bright and clear. Visible wear marks to boards. Unclipped jacket. Panels and spine have light edgewear with tears and creases. Moderate tanning and wear marks to flaps, panels and spine. Mass Market Paperback. Condition: Very Good. First Paperback Edition. Originally published in France 1954 as La Volupte d'Etre. Translated by Moura Budberg and first published in the UK edition by Rupert Hart-Davis in 1955. This is the first printing of the first UK paperback edition. The spine has light reading creasing and edge rubbing. The front cover has a number 9 towards the top corner, a tiny crease to the top right corner and a pen mark across the price at the bottom right corner. Browning to the rear cover. The page edges are browned. Browning and some spotting to the insides of the covers and the first and last pages. Page 21 has a four inch crease along with another small crease and one small closed tear to the edge. The pages are browned but otherwise clean and unmarked. The book was translated from the French by Moura Budberg. It was originally published in 1954 as 'La Volupté d' Etre'. Book in very good condition, in a good unclipped dust jacket. The book has minor spine bumping and a slight lean, with ageing to the page edges. The dust jacket shows general wear and ageing, including internally, with minor losses and nicks to the extremities.
