This G+ quality first format book was published in 1899 by Lee & Shepard and is 7-1/2" tall with 344 numbered pages of text followed by 12 unnumbered pages of ads. This book--one-piece red binding with gold lettering for the title--is square, somewhat soiled, free of corner bumps and edge dings; the head and heel of the spine are lightly bumped with no damage; the bottom edges have very little wear. The spine is moderately soiled. The bottom edge of the text block has a stain of some sort--it has penetrated virtually every page of the text but never came within 1/2" of the bottom edge of the text; it continues on the bottom of the front panel, discoloring and damaging the flag. Except for the just mentioned stain and a tiny book store sticker on the rear paste down, the interior is completely free of writing, stray marks, stains of any sort and page damage of any type; both sets of end pages have some foxing. Both hinges are strong and not damaged in any way. The text paper is lightly toned and is rather flexible and not at all brittle. The frontis + 7 are present and intact. The lists in the front and the rear of the book list all six titles in this series. The book has no remainder mark and is not a former library book. Seller Inventory # BMR-2020-7-26-3
