8vo Bound in full red hard-grain Morocco early inscription to front fly leaf dated 1877, Gilt lines on the boards gilt dentells and lines lettering centre tool of a thistle to the spine. Some mild foxing a nice tight copy with a very nice Fore-Edge Painting. Thomas Babington Macaulay, 1st Baron Macaulay (1800 - 1859) was a nineteenth-century British poet, historian and Whig politician and one of the two Members of Parliament for Edinburgh. He wrote extensively as an essayist and reviewer, and on British history. The Edinburgh Review, founded in 1802, was one of the most influential British magazines of the 19th century.
