About this Item
NOTE - THERE WILL BE AN ADDITIONAL SHIPPING CHARGE SINCE THIS IS A SET OF 6 BOOKS (AND NOT JUST 1 BOOK). FIRST 6 AGATHA CHRISTIE books published by her original UK publisher The Bodley Head (before she changed publishers to Collins in 1926): (1) THE MYSTERIOUS AFFAIR AT STYLES (copyright 1920; 1960 Printing), (2) THE SECRET ADVERSARY (copyright 1922, 1966 Printing); (3) THE MURDER ON THE LINKS (copyright 1923, 1960 Printing); (4) POIROT INVESTIGATES (copyright 1924; 1966 Printing); (5) THE MAN IN THE BROWN SUIT (copyright 1924; 1962 Printing); & (6) THE SECRET OF CHIMNEYS (copyright 1925, 1966 Printing), various colored cloth boards with black spine lettering; 8s 6d or 12s 6d net prices to DJ front flaps (2 are price clipped). NOTE - THESE ARE BASICALLY THE LAST PRINTINGS OF CHRISTIE'S FIRST SIX BOOKS FROM HER ORIGINAL 1920 publisher, as the company was later purchased (and subsequently sold the reprint rights for Christie's first 6 books to UK publisher HarperCollins). THESE 1960s editions were primarily printed to meet library replacement demand and as such had quite small printings (and are usually found only as trashed ex-library editions). All 6 books are nice - just Links has creased page corners otherwise no creased page corners, no former owner or used bookstore markings/stamps inside, tiny moisture stain to bottom edges of free endpapers on Links otherwise clean endpapers with no staining or tape residue, no foxing to pages or endpapers, slight age darkening/dust soiling/foxing to outer page edges on a couple of books (discoloration to bottom right edge to pagebock on Links), no lettering fading/wear to spine, no wear to board edges, board corners or to spine tips, no soiling to cloth boards (moisture stain causing color fading to bottom edge on rear board on Links, and tiny bit of discoloration along bottom edges on Adversary)), no bumped board corners. All 6 original Dust Jackets are nice small chip at bottom on spine on Adversary, tiny irregular chipping at bottom left on spine & top edge on cover on Investigates, couple of tiny closed tears with related creasing at edges on Styles, otherwise no chipping or tearing or creasing, slight wear to spine tips with 'v' losses to spine tip corners on a few DJs, hardly any wear to left/right on spine, hint of wear to front flap creases, hint of edge wear, hint of dust rubbing to white area panels only, no spine sun fading, no scotch tape marks to flaps, bit of color rubbing to spine on Styles otherwise no color rubbing of note to spines/panels, 2 DJs have small spot near bottom on spine otherwise no soiling or staining. Overall a VG+ to N-FINE books in VG- to FINE- condition dust jacket (most not price clipped) of a rare complete set of the first 6 Agatha Christie books by her original UK publisher IN ORIGINAL DUST JACKETS. I have a number of other U.K. and U.S. Agatha Christie 1st printing hardcover books up for sale. Seller Inventory # ABE-1701318535915
