About this Item

A single 7 1/2" x 10" sheet of laid paper, with a mounted white rice paper surface sheet, with 21 mounted (pasted), various sized examples of oriental silk embroidered floral forms, most likely meant to be removed & used as applique. Back of sheet bears an inked character in upper left corner (like a capital I with straight slash through center). Floral forms in various sizes using several shades of fine blue silk thread, with several shades of green, lilac, violet, tan, brown-orange, etc.; each appears to be hand-worked on a white silk backing with gold thread detailing for the stems (pink thread with gold wrapping), and then lightly pasted (they are removable) to the rice paper surface. Edges of rice paper surface show some scattered tan spotting, set of small puncture holes (possibly from being removed from a larger "book" of similar examples). Lustre & colors of the silk is quite well preserved (not fully visible in the scan). Sold as an example of this type of oriental work. Seller Inventory # ABE-190266332
