About this Item
Large Quarto. 28 plates. Original white Tobis Filmkunst envelope with black lettering and photographic plates enclosed. Studio promotion supporting the release of "The Ultimate Road Movie," a present day Odyssey likened to Homer's myth, in Wender's movie with reconciliation between father and son and Penelope following Odysseus. It won the Gildepreis in Gold (Best National Movie) in 1992 but was poorly received in its first release, considered a critical as well as a commercial failure. In 2015, a slightly modified 295-minute director's cut of the 1996 version was released and toured the US art house theaters and debuted on home media on Turner Classic Movies on July 24, 2017. The screenplay was written by Wenders and Peter Carey based on a story by Wenders and Solveigh Dommartin. The movie starred William Hurt, Solveigh Dommartin, Eddy Mitchell, Adelle Lutz, Sam Neil, Max von Sydow, Ernie Dingo, Rüdiger Vogler and Jeanne Moreau with a soundtrack including U2, Talking Heads, Lou Reed, T-Bone Burnett, Peter Gabriel, Can, Elvis Costello, Crime and the City Solution, Patti Smith and others. The twenty eight stunning color film stills on glossy paper (9 1/2 x 11 3/4") enclosed in this original promotional Tobis Filmkunst envelope leave a vivid impression of this intricate and extensive science fiction drama. Envelope cut open at bottom with light wear along edges. Envelope in good, plates in fine condition. Seller Inventory # 43257
