The Emporium of Arts & Sciences Volume I By John Redman Coxe, Six Issues, May-October 1812, 480 pp plus contents, half leather, 9.5 x 6.25 , 8vo. In good condition. Rebound with original leather spine. Original spine has moderate wear with scuffing and abrasions to surface. Surface imperfections and minor red rot at ends. Fresh end papers. Binding is stiff and poorly rebound. Difficult to fully open. Internally good with light toning and minor instances of foxing. Some small tears to the margins. Old hand ownership on title of John Bassett. Minor offsetting from engravings. Free of known marginalia. Please see photos. Includes plates and information on stoves, drying of matches, methods of making wine, an essay on mountains, an engraving of boat masts and information on their improvements, an etching by Coxe at 239 pp painted by the original owner John Bassett, a history of the telegraph, effects on magnetism on time-pieces, a portrait of Benjamin Franklin and Sir Isaac Newton, machines for shoemakers and much more.
