Beautiful Near-Fine *SIGNED* first printing of one of Brian Fagan's earliest and most important works about archaeology, which, like the title, is fast becoming an "elusive treasure". Fagan worked as an archaeologist in Africa, as a professor of archaeology in the United States, and has written at least eight textbooks and more than a dozen books for general audiences on archaeology and related subjects. This copy has a brief inscription (not from the author) on the first endpage, is otherwise in Fine condition. The author's signature and date (4-24-2010) is boldly written on the title page. The dust jacket is not price-clipped, has no chips or tears, and has just slight shelf wear. Seller Inventory # ABH5
