Attractive full polished calf, back in six compartments, gilt black lettering piece in the second, five raised bands between gilt fillets, sides with gilt roll tooled single fillet borders, marbled endpapers. Not in Bolton, Select Bibliography of Chemistry. Not in Duveen, who lists this author's Elements of Mechanical and Chemical Philosophy, Taunton, J. Poole, 1816, noting, "No bibliographical record of the author can be found.In the preface he refers to two other books published by him on similar subjects." p.611. Worldcat, wrongly as usual, lists "five editions", three of which are the same edition and the same as listed here, one other which at least suggests a Boston 1806 edition, and one more conflated with the American author John White Webster's later book with the same title. Near fine clean bright copy in attractive full calf. Sheets clean, unmarked, complete, with lower corner margin only old worming affecting the last four sheets, blanks & rear fee endpaper only.
