Early Georgian, 256 pp.; Mid Georgian, 255 pp.; Late Georgian, 255 pp. Bound in original green cloth, gil,t with contrasting red title labels, gilt, in pictorial dust wrapper, which has slight edge chips for Early Georgian, and is price clipped for Late Georgian; latter has 1966 signature on first free endpaper, but otherwise a fine set. Illustrated throughout by black and white photographs, including frontispieces, and by plans. Decorated by publisher's devices on title pages. Three volume set of the first edition of the author's classic study of high-style English country houses of the Georgian, extended into the Regency, period. It was several times reprinted and was later republished by the Antique Collectors' Club. Christopher Edward Clive Hussey (1899-1970) of Scotney Castle, Kent, was a leading authority on the history of English domestic architecture, and contributed numerous articles on individual houses to Country Life, of which he was architectural editor, from the 1920s onwards.
