About this Item
This first edition of the authoritative life of Arthur Wellesley, first Duke of Wellington, has long been recognized as the standard on Wellington's life. The cloth boards show some sunning and darkening, especially on the spine, and there is two brown spots from some source on the spine itself. The wear to the edges of the boards and corners is very negligible. There is a previous owner's bookplate on the front pastedown but beyond that the interior body of the text is in very good condition or better. The book features a number of pictures of personalities involved during the time and also reprints several battle scenes from the Napoleonic era. The book has a substantial treatment of the Battle of Waterloo where Wellington won lasting fame in his defeat of Napoleon. 405 pages. Seller Inventory # 1505-225
