About this Item

A Near Fine copy with previous owner name along the gutter of the front flyleaf in a Very Good plus unclipped dust jacket with a closed edgetear and creasing to the heel of the rear panel and some light edge wear. In 1909, the Italian poet and editor F.T.Marietti published an aggressive manifesto demanding writers and artists reject the classic art of the past and "celebrate the dynamic technology of modern city life." This call to arms led to the Futurist Movement whose followers melded their romantic involvement with modern technology to create art that would represent movement in reaction to the static art of Cubism. This anthology of the most significant Futurist writings and unusual documentary illustrations appear here in book form for the first time. Bookseller Inventory # 25321

About this title

Synopsis:

Manifestos and artists' statements were crucial to Futurism, the revolutionary art movement that took Europe by storm in the years preceding the First World War. This classic work is widely respected as the most comprehensive selection of the writings that defined the movement. Its fiery, explosive and witty content is accompanied by a thorough introduction and by a new afterword that reflects on the activities of the Futurists from today's perspective.
