Blue morocco leather spine, sides and corner-pieces, with five raised bands on the spine, gilt-lettered titling, tooled designs with red morocco leather centers, gilt borders, light blue marbled paper over boards; pastel marbled endpapers, top-edge gilt. With the engraved book label of American Ornithologist, Bayard Henderson Christy (1872-1943), with the date in ink: 1892, and with a hand-written, calligraphic Latin presentation leaf bound in, facing the title-page, presenting this book to Christy in 1892: "Bayard Henderson Christy, Alumno Guilielmensi, hunc librum, majoris industriae incitamentum, adjudicaverunt linguarum antiquarum professores ex testamento Jacobi Lathrop Rice. Quod testor, Franklin Carter, Praeses Guilielmensis. In aed. Coll. Guililm. die secundo et vicesimo Junii, A. D. MDCCCXCII" [1892].
