Limited edition of 350 copies, this is number 314. Signed and inscribed by publisher John Howell on the front free endpaper, dated "3/15/23." Dark gray paper boards quarter bound with light gray cloth. Paper label with red lettering is affixed to spine. Slight rubbing to edges with boards just starting to be exposed at corners; mild soiling, mostly to back board. Tight binding and clean interior. Text block has a deckle fore-edge. Includes title-page vignette and two headpieces by Joseph Sinel. Foreword by Frederick S. Myrtle. Bret Harte (1836-1902) was a poet and short story writer best known for his depictions of the California Gold Rush. This poem was his tribute to the memory of Charles Dickens.
