Synopsis:

This first edition hardback contains details of many different pantheons both fictional (such as the Orc Gods) and those of our ancient history. Including The Norse Mythology, the Greek, Indian, Chinese, to name a few. All Gods are given stats in a way that is familiar to a monster manual. In fact, there are several beasts of mythology contained herein, including the likes of Cerebus (the dreaded, three headed guardian dog of Hades), and the mighty Cyclops (not to be confused with its weaker cousin the cyclops-kin from a previous monster manual). These creatures have full combat stats, just as though they were taken from a manual, including experience points. The Gods entries slightly differ in this regard as their stats are for their Avatars. The form they take when visiting the Prime Material Plane. There Hit Points etc, are still represented such as a beasts, but an avatar is of course a mighty being that can is only able to be calculated into stats due to it's avatar. The true form of a God, is immortal, and perhaps indestructable. However, just in case the God's Avatar is called down to help or hinder, all stats are there including how many levels they have in each character class. This book is fascinating, and is more than just a Monster Manual of super beings. It is also enlightening, telling us about other cultures. It even has an Authorian Legends section, with King Arthur, Sir Lancelot, Merlin, etc being represented, also with their stats. Also Artefacts such as Excalibur and Thor's Hammer are explained, although it would be dangerous to allow such items fall into the hands of the party. This book is about 30 years old now (that is how long I have had it), and it is still is great condition. I have always been a bit OCD about letting people touch my AD&D stuff, which is probably why it is in such great shape.

Synopsis: Thoroughly revised and updated, this classic AD&D game accessory provides valuable background information on the monsters, deities, heroes, and villains of diverse mythological pantheons.
