I, and the head and the foot of the spine are bumped, with some rubbing on the front of the DJ. The DJ for vol. II has multiple chips and closed tears along the top and the bottom edges, and the corners and the head and the foot of the spine are bumped. There is a black marker mark at the left edge of the cover of the DJ for vol. II that extends onto the spine. The books themselves are clean and tight, with mimimal bumping at the corners and at the head and foot of the spine. Overall condition VG+. Illustrated with 72 B/W plates. Lovely two-volume first edition of the journals of the noted early 20th-century photographer, with black-and-white plates of his stunning images throughout.
