About the Bookseller

David Krut Publishing (DKP) was established in Johannesburg, in 1997 when David Krut produced the first major publication on William Kentridge as a CD–ROM. This publication gave an international audience insight into the talents of Kentridge and, drew attention to the diverse creative talents to be found in post-apartheid South Africa. DKP went on to publish a CD of the Music for the Films of William Kentridge, composed by Philip Miller, and also obtained the rights from WDR, Germany for a documentary video on Kentridge entitled Drawing the Passing. In the years following we have published 4 more titles on William Kentridge, books on special projects in Africa dealing with women and AIDS, a book with Constitutional Court Judge Albie Sachs on the architecture of the new court building in Johannesburg, and a series on contemporary South African artists. Most recently, Fall 2007, we expanded publishing to New York with the release of Painting Then For Now. Fragments of Tiepolo at the Ca' Dolfin by Svetlana Alpers, James Hyde, and Barney Kulok coinciding with an exhibition including the 3 artists at our New York gallery space.
