Frontispieces, 32 wood-engraved plates, 8 maps, (the fold-out map at p. 235 in Vol. 2 has split apart into several sections, and requires restoration) plus 2 fold-out maps in slot in rear cover (these show some splitting to the folds). Green cloth stamped in gilt, black, and red on covers and spines. Spines show fading and light general wear. A split on the spine of Vol. I shows repair. End papers of Vol. I have small chips. Light spotting to rear cover of both. The bookplate of William G. Mather (1857-1951), a Cleveland, Ohio-based book collector and world traveler is in each volume. Total weight is 7 lbs.
