About this Item
Sixth plate daguerreotype. Image size approximately 3" x 3". Matted with preserver in original embossed leather case with gold cut velvet pad inside the front cover. Professionally cleaned and resealed, the image is about fine. The hinge of the case is weak but holding, and displays an attempt to temporarily secure it with archival tape. Two young teen women, likely sisters, one seated, the other standing, each with an arm around the shoulder of the other. The seated sister holds a what is certainly a daguerreotype case on her lap. Slight, delicate contemporary pink tinting on both of their cheeks, and judicious tinting on they're patterned dresses. Neither the subjects or the photographer are indentified. Our attribution of date suggested by the oval mat, preserver, and the case on the daguerreotype. An attractive image. Seller Inventory # 588482
