About this Item
Sixth plate daguerreotype. Image size approximately 3" x 3.5". Matted with preserver in original embossed leather case with cut red velvet pad inside the front cover. Professionally cleaned and resealed, the image is about fine. The hinge of the case is broken, although both sides are present and capable of having the spine repaired, thus near very good. Portrait of a mother and father and two mid-teen twin sisters in identical dresses, two seated and two standing in a well-balanced family group. Slight, delicate contemporary pink tinting on the cheeks of the subjects. Neither the subjects of the dag, nor the photographer are indentified. Our attribution of date suggested by the elaborate decoration on the mat, the preserver, and the case on the daguerreotype. An attractive image. Seller Inventory # 588543
