DESCRIPTION : bound in one hardcover volume, comprised of half cloth and marbled paper over boards with gilt lettering and bands to spine. The hardcover binding is in Near Fine to Fine condition and the contents (text) is also Near Fine to Fine. Remarkably nice condition. The demarkation between Numbers 1 and 2 is not distinct, and has been noted in pencil in the text, the demarkation was checked against records held in Iceland. SUBJECTS : Western [North American] Icelanders/Vestur-Íslendingar; Icelandic literature; religion; Unitarian Church. OTHER : Wilhelm Kristjanson, in his book, The Icelandic People in Manitoba (p. 361) states that Ný Dagsbrún was edited by Johann Solmundsson and Einar Olafsson, and printed in Gimli. The first volume, in 82 pages, contained mostly the adresses delivered at the founding conention of the Icelandic Unitarian Association in Gimli in 1804. Referenced in Hjartar, p. 73. Rare indeed. .
