About this Item
FIRST ISSUE OF LARRY FLYNT'S FIRST PUBLICATION. Vol. One, No. 1. The Dec. 12, 1968 issue. 12-page newspaper, folded neatly in half as issued, very good to fine condition. Unmarked, without any chips or tears. Normal age toning to newsprint. Larry Flynt started his business empire in Dayton, Ohio in 1965 with a single bar. He met with success and started expanding in 1968. opening the first Hustler Club in Dayton and issuing the Dayton edition of Bachelor's Beat (a national publication which sold franchises to individual cities). Flynt was president of the corporation while his brother was listed as editor/publisher. Larry ran the Bachelor's Beat for two years before selling it. He apparently used the experience to launch the Hustler Newsletter, a newspaper about his Hustler Club chain - in 1974, the newsletter morphed into the infamous Hustler Magazine. The first issue of Bachelor's Beat features a story about Flynt on page One along with a photo. A rare piece of ephemera, important as the genesis of a publishing empire which played a major role in the modern history of the Sexual Revolution. Seller Inventory # 1265942
