(First edition was published in 1882). ***Illustrated with a black and white steel engraved frontispiece showing 'Timely Aid' to illustrate page 30 and a title-piece showing 'Sweet Counsel to a mournful heart' to illustrate page 442. ***Very good in blue cloth-covered boards with bevelled edges, black and blind raised titles on gilt title compartment, red and black rules and red and black outlined design to spine, gilt and black titles and red and black design and rules to front board and blind ornate decorative rules to rear board. Boards very slightly marked. Edges slightly rubbed. Corners very slightly creased. Sepia floral-decorated front and rear front pastedowns and endpapers. Boards slightly rubbed and marked. Corners of boards slightly bumped. Edges of boards slightly rubbed. Head and tail of spine rubbed. Corners of boards rubbed. A couple of fox marks to prelims. No foxing to interior pages. No foxing to frontispiece or title-piece. No inscriptions. Spine tight.
