pp. ix, 278. Dust jacket protected in new mylar. Signed, "Alan Paton, Johannesburg. May 27, 1948" on the front free end paper. The date 1948 appears on both the title page and copyright page, but no letter "A" on the copyright page. The dust jacket has a few very minor chips and closed tears, but is bright with a price of $3.95 on the front flap. The book has some wear at the crown and foot of the spine and corners.
