Volumes 1-3 of what was most likely a five volume set (from what we can gather from WorldCat), however libraries do not seem to have volumes 4 and 5. At the end of Volume 1 is written "End of Volume I", at the end of Volume 2 "End of Volume II", at the end of 3 it states "The End". So it is possible that the projected 5 Volume set was completed with the third (perhaps through a consolidation of material). This is possible as the printing dates are as follows: Vol. I 1840, Volume II 1840, Volume III 1841. Please see table of Contents for the three Volumes to determine which essays are included. Brown blind stamped boards with gold lettering on spine. Books have some shelf wear. Spine of Volume 2 has some chipping on head portion. Previous owner's library plate on front paste down endpapers. Volume 2 has some penciled marginalia, other volumes are clean and free of markings. Tightly bound copies. This is an oversize set, international orders will be charged additional shipping.
