Soft cover. 16 leaves in two gatherings. 16 printed pages numbered 1-16, each with hand-coloured illustration occupying more than half a page - above 4-line rhymes on pages 1-15, beneath 6 lines and above 4 lines of 10-line rhyme in smaller type on page 16. All but page 10 with single theme word in capital letters beneath rhyme. Beige paper wrappers printed in black; chipped with loss at and adjacent to spine, very rubbed, grubby, and marked by selotape (now removed) - several strips overlapping both front & rear having been applied to reinforce spine. Front wapper with "The Moving Adventures of Old Dame Trot and her Comical Cat / Illustrated with Copperplate Engravings / Part II / London / Printed for the Booksellers" legible or partly legible, final line rubbed to extent of no longer legible. Rear wrapper with publisher's advertisement headed "Improved Books For Children / Newly Published", comprising partly legible list of some 9 titles with details, beneath which publisher details Charles Squire. Complete but the book is a mess. All pages are grubby; tears have been mended with a clear tape-doesn t appear to be selotape as no residue to it. One page has been mended with a horizontal tear. Small inscription to Robert Macey 20th January 1819. Ex libris plate of Joan Feisenberger who appears to have died in 1992, wife of writer John Mair and bookseller & writer Eric Bligh, her papers were left to the Bodleian library.
