"This 6.25 x 9.25 inch, 281 page hardcover book with dust jacket is the first edition of this title by Texian Press in 1968. This copy is in near fine condition with just a bit of wear and rounding corners and a curious bubbling of binder's glue at the spine to downgrade this book from fine. The rounded corners may be just a result of tight binding as there appears to be no real damage or bumping, and the bubbling on the spine again appears to be a binding imperfection as the blue-cloth covers and gilt lettering on the spine are clean and without wear or damage. The interior of the book shows a previous owner's inked name and date on the front pastedown but the text pages are in strictly fine condition. The book gives a good accounting of the exploration and eventual "settlement" of the western prairies over several centuries. The book features a full-page map of the area covered by the book and then as well as twenty-four pages of additional photographs and one further map. The dust wrapper is in very good condition although the color is faded at the margins of the wrapper. The price has been clipped. 281 pages.". Seller Inventory # 1505-619
