Index to first lines, frontis, introduction by Sir Leslie Stephen. Two-columned textblock. VG. Rubbing with touches of surface loss to spine ends and tips of corners of boards with central cloth smooth, clean and bright though light stress crease down mid front cloth; gilt sharp and bright. Light shelving soil to page edges. Binding tight and square though light play to hinges with all holding well. Thin pages mildly toned (somewhat heavier on endpapers) but clean and unmarked.
