2 volumes. Engraved frontispiece, [4], 576p: [6], 583-1322p, 46p. 19th Century polished green morocco with the gilt arms of Rev. Theodore Williams on the boards. Spine gilt lettered and with a gilt fore-edge.Edited by Arnoldus Westerhovius (c.1677-1738), a theologian, poet and Latinist, and first published in 1726. Dibdin II p475 comments favorably on the elaborate care and research of the 1726 edition, but is critical about the attempts to explain passages or textual constructions. Dibdin finds this second 1732 edition published for young students far more useful. Moss II p673-674 is far more favorable in his commentary on 1726 edition calling it "a very splendid and valuable edition" due to the commentaries and the Variorum Notes as well as some of the editor's own. Aside from a later professional repair to the upper portion of the front hinge to volume 1, a fresh clean copy. Rev. Theodore Williams Library was sold in 1827. Seller Inventory # 6634
