The second edition edited by Richard Bentley (1662-1742), Master of Trinity College, Cambridge which to some extent ranks above his Horatius because this is where he laid the courner stones of all subsequent work on the Latin comic metres. Bartholomew & Clark #176. "The plates were re-engraved for this edition, and an additional engraved frontispiece was introduced. Indexes were added". R.J. White p200 writes that "Not only did he suggest about a thousand corrections in the text of the plays, with a running commentary on the notes of Doctor Hare's edition but he added a dissertation on the Terentian metres, showing with his celebrated 'divination' just how (in his view) the ancient comedians spoke their lines". Ebert #22520. A notation in pencil indicating that the book is from Ripley Castle. Some light browning throughout.
