Copyright page states "First Printing", but (1) the rear board has a book club impress in lower right corner, and (2) the dust jacket lacks a price while referencing the Book of the Month Club. Otherwise, this volume is indistinguishable from the true first printing, having the same measurements in all three directions and using the same paper. The Text Block is white, tight, straight and square, with black topstain, no markings of any kind, and deckled fore-edges that show a little foxing. The Binding is maroon full cloth, with no color loss, bright gilt author's initials to front board and bright gilt title, etc., with silver decoration to spine, and all corners square and sharp. The Dust Jacket is intact with small tears that have been discreetly closed from behind by archival (pH neutral) materials, and slight wrinkles on the flaps. See photos. 343 pages. 5 7/8" x 8 1/2".
