Illustrated by 24 engravings (majority with tissue guards) by R. Branston, J. Thompson, W. Hughes et al from designs drawn by John Thurston. Two bookplates to front endpaper 1) F. J. S. Wilson and 2) Newton Hall Cambridge. Language: English. Book Condition: Fair: Wear to corners, edges and spine ends. Front spine edge leather hardened and lifting to lower half. Heavy rubbed boards with gouge to lower left corner of front board. Heavy wear to title plate to loss to edges. Tightly bound with clean intact endpapers and strong hinges. DJ Condition: No DJ Pages [ii],x,[8],96. Size: 26.5cm by 18cm. AUTHOR: James Puckle (1667-1724) was an English inventor, lawyer and writer from London chiefly remembered for his invention of the Defence Gun, better known as the Puckle gun.
