A Near Fine copy in maroon cloth binding. Fold out map is present. This revised edition describes some 980 routes as compared to around 580 in the 1949 edition. Essentially all known climbs have been covered, including those on practice rocks. The route descriptions are the result of a committee effort and naturally there is some lack of uniform viewpoint and style. An extensive review and checking procedure has been very successful. in eliminating gross inconsistencies and the guide is probably as accurate as it is possible to produce for a range so large and complex as the Cascades. The book is in fine condition, probably used only at home. Binding is tight. Covers are clean without rubbing. There are no previous owner marks or writing on any pages (other than Beckey's signature). Pages are clean and bright. A few tiny foxing spots on edge of text block but no foxing on page faces. This is the third incarnation (1961) of Fred Beckey's long-running series of climbing guide books to the Cascades. It is the last of the small size editions by Beckey measuring 168mm tall x 112mm, and the first brown one (previous issues were green cloth). Hardcover. Condition: Fine. No Jacket. Third Edition (revised). This is signed in black pen by Fred Beckey on the title page. The book is also inscribed and signed by George R. Sainsbury on the blank FFEP, dated at time of publication and inscribed/signed to his daughter(?) who is acknowledged as having typed several proofs (see acknowledgements page). Sainsbury was the chairman and chief editor for the production of this greatly rewritten edition. His signature is much less common than Beckey's in this book (only seen 3 examples signed by Sainsbury in over 40 years of searching). The book is in fine condition, probably used only at home. Binding is tight. Covers are clean without rubbing. There are no previous owner marks or writing on any pages (other than Sainsbury's signed inscription and Beckey's signature).
