Book is partially dis-bound lacking both the back strip and the front board. Pages 3-8 are detached as is the end paper, frontispience and title page. The frontispiece is a steel engraving of Port Nicholson, New Zealand. The book consists of five distinct parts: 1. Two journals of visitation to the North and South portions of his diocese by The Lord Bishop of Australia in 1843. Third edition published 1846 48pp. 2. Two journals of missionary tours in the districts of Maneroo and Moreton Bay, NSW in 1843. Third edition published 1846 44pp. Includes a new map showing the grazing districts of NSW. 3. New Zealand Part I. Letters from the Bishop to The Society for the Propagation of The Gospel together with exerts from his visitation journal from JUly 1842-Jan 1843. Third edition published 1847. Intro plus 111pp includes map of NZ which is complete but detached from the book. 4. New Zealand Part II. Journal of the Bishops visitation tour from Aug to Dec 1843 to which is prefixed an extract from a letter from the Bishop to a friend in England. Third edition. published 1847. 64pp. 5. New Zealand Part III. Journal of the Bishops visitation tour from Dec 1843-March 1844 including an account of his visit to the Southern Island. Second edition published 1846. 48pp. Internally the book is very clean with no foxing and on the FEP is the book plate of The Society For The Prorogation of The Gospel In Foreign Parts. The book is clearly in need of being rebound but is an incredibly rare survivor of early Australia/New Zealand Christian history. Seller Inventory # 003439
