xxxvi, 700p. 19th century green morocco with the gilt arms of Rev. Theodore Williams on the boards and title lettered in gilt on the spine. A brown frame design along the edges of boards which is different from many of the books bound by Clarke for the Rev. Williams. A later reprint of Johann Matthias Gesner (1691-1761) edition of Horace which first appeared in print 1752 and was frequently reprinted. Schweiger p416. From the Library of Arthur Atherley (1772-1844) with bookplate on the inside front board, English Member of Parliament where he served three times as member of the Whig. Later bookplate on the inside front blank of George Venables-Vernon. (1803-1866). Some light foxing throughout otherwise a very attractive copy in a remarkably crisp clean binding. Rev.
