Synopsis: Presents simple cooking principles and easy recipes for a variety of party dishes including cakes, shakes, and ice cream.
From School Library Journal:
Grade 1-3The Mystery of the Pirate Ghost is a below average mystery in which Otto and Uncle Tooth, two green lizard-like animals, capture a "ghost" who has been plaguing Boogle Bay . Hayes' illustrations show anthropomorphic creatures in a seaside village with nautical decor. The Care Bears' Party Cookbook is a collection of easy recipes for snacks and desserts that can be assembled without using a stove. It contains the usual cautions about safety and cleanliness while the recipes and illustrations are, like the Care Bears themselves, a trifle sweet but innocuous. In the most entertaining and amusing of the three, Deputy Dan, a Western version of "Amelia Bedelia," follows the sheriff's instructions literally as he finds and arrests the Scrambled Egg Gang. Raglin's colored cartoon-style drawings reinforce Rosenbloom's corny humor. This series seems to be modeled on the "I Can Read" series and other books for beginning readers but is inferior to the best of those other books.
