LARGE OBLONG FOLIO -24 x 17 1/2 inches - wide margins thus to the plate mark 16 x 12 1/2 inches. Title and 25 large engraved plates of Italian costumes and daily life, held loose within gilt lettered red boards. Complete. Plates professionally washed and hence very clean. Small abrasion to one plate and one plate creased. Many plates of peasants frolicking or at work. Plates dated 1820-1821. One of the largest of the Pinelli books. Pinelli was an extremely prolific engraver, his illustrations depicted the costumes of the Italian people, the great epic poems and numerous other subjects, including popular customs.
