About this Item
Three volumes in two. 108; 132; 203,[1]pp. 12mo. Dbd. Light tanning and foxing. About very good. A rare and complete set of these collections of poetry and essays by a transplanted northerner, inspired by the example of Washington Irving. These early literary works by Percival followed several collegiate publications in New Haven. The first two volumes were published during his hiatus as a journalist between his Yale medical education and his embarkation on a career as a self- educated geologist. The first volume, an early South Carolina imprint, is particularly rare. The third volume, published five years later, completes the series. BAL 15888, 15889, 15908. AMERICAN IMPRINTS 9874, 30202.
